And the Winners Are…

Carla, Becky and Susan.

For a full list of the final standings, go here:

Since the main goal of the contest was to get people to go to your page, I treated the creative portion as an “extra credit” type thing, where you either did it, or you didn’t. If you did it, you got a 30% boost to your score (which is calculated using a super top-secret formula based on your traffic stats). In the end, it didn’t matter much since ALL of the top 8 contestants did it.

By the way, I love that some people got zero points. That’s real determination.

We’ll send out an email to everyone who entered to get your addresses, and you’ll get some SBR goodies in the mail, even if you didn’t hit the jackpot.

Now, here were some sweet extra credit jammers:

Carla dressed herself in an intricately designed t-shirt advertisement and accosted people at her Spirit Week in addition to random people on the street.

She also infiltrated Facebook and Yahoo! Answers pages with links to her page.

Becky made some really nice flyers and destroyed a bag. Also, she performed a sweet mini-rock opera:

She also managed to impressively not get in a car accident.

Susan made some awesome flyers, and handed them out in the St. Pauli subway station in Hamburg:

Rosa made a funny inspirational poster:

She also continued her tradition of snark and humor with this Youtube vid/game. I am embarrassed that I didn’t get Pesky at first.

Rachel did a very nice performance of the song at open mic and linked the video to her page. Nicely done!

Katie performed a more colorful version (would give extra credit for the Miller Lite tall-boy if I could). The handclaps are a really nice touch.

Also, not contest related, but she made these sweet jack-o-lanterns:

jack2

Nancy made a website with a cool design and made a Facebook group. She made this beautiful henna for a wedding:

She also made some deceptively sweet Youtube vids.

Faith made this awesome stop-motion animation:

Rebecca infiltrated an unsuspecting message board with delicious lies and deceptions. She also plastered fliers featuring her page around her dorm, most heavily the bathroom. Way to grab a captive audience!

Alice humiliated a very dead skeleton in her medical school’s library by having it hold an advertisement for her page.

While, not contest-related, Roselin continued her epic “Teensy OK Go” by introducing Teensy Secret Dakota Ring, a mini band featuring a mini Travis that lives in a Chef Boyardee can. Kudos for picking the perfect food product for Mr. Harrison.

If I missed anyone’s work, please let me know and I’ll update this post. Also, if you did something and want me to take it down, let me know at contest@secretdakotaring.com.

Thanks so much to everyone who entered and spent some time making some really awesome stuff! I hope you all had some fun doing it.

Love,
aross

I think I should have won extra points for being the only brazilian contestant =P (just kiding!)

It was a very cool contest, I work with social networking strategy and never had seen anything like this, congratulations mr. Ross!

  • 6. Alice  |  November 13th, 2008 at 5:49 am

    Wooo, congratulations, people!!!

Also I would like to point out that the skeleton was NOT humiliated, far from it. He was the most stylish dead guy going in this place.

Unfortunately the librarian didn’t seem to agree… ;)

    Aw man, zero points.
Kind of wish I’d tried harder. Apparently, it was just too much to assume that people might randomly type my string of letters into the internet.
    I am not a lucky man. :(

Got my album a few days ago btw, very impressed with it :)
